Privacy Policy
Birthy is a birthday reminder app developed by Covic 3D (Ivan Covic). This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, and what control you have over it.
Last updated: 19 August 2026The short version
- Birthy stores the birthdays you add so you can get them back on a new phone.
- We do not sell your data, and we never share your birthday list with anyone.
- The app shows ads, which use a device advertising identifier.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, from inside the app.
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your first name, last name and date of birth | When you create your account | To identify your account and greet you |
| Your email address | When you create your account | To let you sign in again on a new device, and to reach you about your account |
| Your phone number | When you create your account | Verification during sign-up and account recovery |
| Birthdays you add — name, date, and optionally an email or phone number | Every time you add or edit a birthday | To send you reminders and to sync your list across devices |
| Contacts you choose to import | Only if you use “Import from Contacts” and grant permission | To add those birthdays to your list. Contacts you do not select are never sent anywhere. |
| Advertising identifier and basic device information | While the app is open | To show ads through Google AdMob |
| Crash and diagnostic data | If the app crashes or errors | To find and fix bugs |
Where your data is stored
Your account and your birthday list are stored on our own server at birthy.app, located in the European Union. Traffic between the app and the server is encrypted (HTTPS). A copy of your birthday list is also cached on your device so the app works offline.
Third-party services
Birthy uses the following services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob — shows ads in the app and may use a device advertising identifier. Google Ads privacy
- Google Firebase — Crashlytics for crash reports, Analytics for basic usage statistics, and Authentication for phone verification during sign-up. Firebase privacy
We do not use any other advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not share your birthday list with advertisers or anyone else.
- We do not read your contacts in the background — only when you actively use the import screen.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and birthdays for as long as you use Birthy. When you delete your account, the data is removed from our database immediately; server backups that may still contain it are overwritten within 30 days. Nothing is retained after that.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → ACCOUNT → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and every birthday you saved. Full instructions, including how to request deletion by email if you no longer have the app installed, are at birthy.app/delete-account.html.
Your rights
If you are in the European Union, the GDPR gives you the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how it is processed. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. The legal basis for processing your account and birthday data is the contract to provide you the service; for ads and analytics it is your consent, which you can withdraw in your device settings.
Children
Birthy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Birthy handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
